The Diabetes Service Users Group

What is it?

A support group for people living with diabetes and developed by the local Primary Care Trust. The group hold meetings every 3 months, meetings include – informal chats – guest speakers – twice yearly newsletter. An opportunity for patients to influence services and find out what is going on regarding healthcare in the local area.

The Expert Patient Programme

What is the difference?


The Expert Patient Programme

  • Teaches people with a long-term condition how to self-manage effectively.
  • It is intended for all kinds of people with a chronic illness – not just diabetes.

 

The X-pert Patient Programme

  • This is a structured education programme for people with Type 2 diabetes.
  • It involves a weekly half-day session in your local area.
  • It deals with what diabetes is – diet, exercise, supermarket tour and the complications of diabetes.
